What's all the fuss about?

President's Speech to Students

The President delivered a speech today on the importance of staying in school, the student's responsibility for their own success in school and in life, and the impact of the student's education on the future of the country.  So what was all the fuss about the last few days? Previous Presidents (Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush to name just two) have given similar speeches to encourage students.  I don't recall any ruckus prior to those speeches.
I hope that those who had concerns about their children hearing this President's  message on education have taken 15 minutes or so to listen to what the President had to say today.  If they disagreed with him on the points he made, they'll probably be relieved that they shielded their kids from what they perceive to be misinformation.  I respect their right to do that even if I disagree with them.  If, however, parents concluded that the President was right and what he had to say in this speech was commendable, then I hope they will set the record straight with their children, watch the speech again with their kids and affirm the message.

Regardless of my political inclinations, I hope I can always listen fairly and objectively to what the President has to say and look for points of agreement rather than always looking for points of disagreement
