It's going to be easy for you and me to forget about the devastation in Haiti now that a few weeks have passed and the story is no longer in the headlines. It would have been a mistake for all of us to rush to Haiti on January 12th. Most of us would have only added to the crisis. It will be an even bigger mistake for us to allow this tragedy to fade from our memory now because, not only is the re-building only beginning, many people are still in imminent danger. You and I can continue to support the on-going efforts by the many fine organizations working in Haiti right now. (Links to Compassion International and World Vision are located on this blog.)
Now is the time for you and me to look for ways that we can get more directly involved in ministry to the Haitian people. If you know of churches, ministries or other organizations that have established ties there, explore with them how you can become involved. Maybe your call is to actually be a part of a team that will go to Haiti to work and serve. If you aren't the person to go, you can do something here to support the teams that will go. Whatever you do, don't forget those that have suffered so much in Haiti.
